Continuing to provide support to York University students who are residing in areas outside of Ontario due to COVID-19 is important to us. However, in many parts of the world the practice of psychotherapy is restricted to delivery by counsellors registered and residing within a particular area (i.e. province, state, etc.).
In areas that do not regulate the practice of psychotherapy/ counselling, we are pleased to continue to offer walk-in counselling, ongoing counselling and group counselling services.
For students residing in areas where the practice of psychotherapy/ counselling is regulated we are able to offer wellness consultations.
If you are interested in an appointment, please complete this form to help us identify the type of service we are able to provide in your area and to arrange a time for you to meet with a counsellor.
What is a Wellness Consultation?
The purpose of wellness consultations is to check-in on your mental health, provide you with information on how to cope during times of change through self-empowerment and resilience, and to connect you to local services in your jurisdiction. These sessions are offered by a counsellor and can address a range of needs or concerns. Sessions are confidential and may last anywhere between 15-50 minutes.
Wellness consultations can help with:
- Concerns about mental health
- Managing studies remotely
- Personal wellness goal-setting
- Strategies to cope with stress, anxiety, self-doubt, overwhelm or isolation
- Prioritizing mental health and well-being during COVID-19
- Exploring options for mental health and wellness services in your local jurisdiction
