Our team of peer health educators provide health education and resources to the York student community. Peers educate students about services and resources in a fun and engaging manner through active programming and community engagement. They also organize events and programming and create awareness around various health initiatives related to the needs within the student life cycle. Through a holistic approach peers promote positive health behaviours and lifestyle choices to support physical and mental wellness as well as academic success.

Team Lead
Hey everyone! My name is Hiba, and I am the Team Lead at Health Education & Promotion. I am entering my third year of Kinesiology and Health Sciences at the Faculty of Health, and it is my second year working on the Health Education and Promotion team. I joined this team in 2021 as a Peer Health Educator, and I truly believe my experience working on the Health Ed Team has allowed me to grow not only professionally, but personally as well.
This team values putting diverse, student-lived experiences at the fore-front of all health programming initiatives. Whenever I have some free-time, I love baking and cooking - I am always excited to try making new recipes for my friends and family! I cannot wait to see what this year brings for Health Ed, and I look forward to seeing many of you around campus this year!

Engagement Lead
Hello everyone! My name is Valentina, I am the Peer Engagement Lead at Health Education & Promotion. This is my third year on this team, where I have previously worked as a Peer Health Educator. This year I am entering my fourth year of studies, majoring in Global Health, and specializing in Health Policy, Systems & Management.
I have a strong passion for mental health related topics and believe that having open, judgement-free conversations are crucial in improving the student wellbeing experience at York. In my free-time I am constantly listening to music, in fact, you will likely find me on campus with my headphones on!

Social Media Lead
Hey everyone, my name is Kaitlynn and I am the Social Media Lead from the Summer 2022 Term and I was a Social Media Peer for Fall/Winter 2021. Being a Social Media Lead has taught me that promoting health topics on social media is useful in benefitting a wider audience while teaching them about health in a short time frame. This year I am completing my studies here at York University for B.A Honours in Psychology as I am excited to see where the future takes me.
I am passionate about all areas that we cover here at Health Education and Promotion but, I would say I specialize mostly in Mental Health, Self-Care and Physical Health. I believe it is important to take care of both our minds and bodies, to create a healthier lifestyle. When I am free I like to read romance novels, play soccer or even watch scary thrillers with my family!
